It's pretty easy to earn some extra cash

Make Extra Money Working From Home

Tools I'm using-

  • Account with GoDaddy

  • Account with Host Monster

  • MS Front Page

The first step is to sign up for a hosting package with HostMonster.com. I have to pay annually to get the $6.95 per month deal, but it is totally worth it in my mind.

Teach me sites is where I will teach you how I handle my websites. This will include everything from buying the domain to setting up your email. As time goes on I hope to post lots of information about my process. This whole process of building websites and web pages takes some time.

Starting the site is the easy part. It's when it comes down to the site layout and maintenance where I spend most the my time. I don't want to scare your off by making you think it will be tons of work to get your site up and running. This is one of those areas in my life where I really enjoy doing the work. So I have a tendency to get sucked into it.

I have sat down with a customer and with in 10 minutes had their website running on my host. You can literally take a website from being a concept to a reality in just minutes once one know "how" to do it. Your site might not be the best, but it can be up and running fast!

  • The Domain

    • The Domain name is the name that is associated with your website address. Your website actually lives at an IP (Internet Protocol) address. To make life easier, we use domains to remember the address. Can you imagine how offten you would respond to advertisements when they said, "Visit us at 123.99.74.91".

    • When I look for domains, I try to find the exact name I'm looking for. Many times those names are taken. I just find another name that is pretty much what I need. My logic is that once I do my thing and promote my site, the name is the name, so it doesn't really matter, but it does help.

    • You can buy any domain name that is currently available. Some names are for sale, but you will pay a lot more for those names.

    • You can purchase the name from many different locations. Networksolutions.com godaddy.com are 2 of my favorites. Just a bit of my history with these two. Networksolutions.com is the site where I used to buy the domains. They cost a lot more there. I do still use them when I'm shopping for domains. The reason is that they let you search multiple names at once, then they let you delete taken names, so you can see a list of the available names you are looking at.

    • Once I have the names, I've been going to Godaddy.com to purchase the name. I have an account with them, so I log in to that account, and purchase the new domain. All of my domain names can be managed under this one account. When I first started buying domains, I didn't realize this, and I opened a new account for each name. Once I figured it out, I had to transfer each domain to the account I was going to keep.

    • Domain Summery:

      • If you don't buy the domain from your host, you will need to set the DNS address to point to your host. This is done through the site you purchased the domain with.

      • If you buy the domain through your host your done.

  • The Host

    • When I initially setup my hosting account the domain I used became my "Master Domain". All the other domains work under this domain. These are called sub-domains or add-ons. The way I look at it is that a sub-domain is NewDomain.MasterDomain. And an add-on is both NewDomain & NewDomain.MasterDomain.

    • I don't buy my domains through my host, so I have to point the DNS to the host. But then I have to log into the host and create an add-on domain. This is where I tell my host the new domain name, and my host will verify the domain's DNS address's are pointing to it. Once my host varifies this it creates 2 new directories for me.

      • 1) NewDomain.MasterDomain

      • 2) NewDomain

    • Since I use MS Front Page I have to install the Front Page Extensions on each of the add-on domains I set up. All this consists of is going into the FP Extensions section in my host's control panel, and clicking the button to install the Extensions on the specific domain. The one thing to note is that because this is an add-on domain the is also the option to install the extensions on NewDomain.MasterDomain. By choosing to install them on the new domain they are automatically installed on both.
